Woodstock Is a Happenin' Place

One what would normally be considered a slow weekend, Woodstock was booming with business.

Last weekend, with nothing special going on like a Friday Nite Live or a concert, I noticed an unusual crowd of cars parked further into my neighborhood than usual. So, a little walk through the downtown area told me why.

Acru and Copper Coin Coffee had musicians playing and the bleacher, tables, inside and out, were full with people enjoying the mellow sounds.  was its usual, busy self.  had a constant stream of visitors.

Across the street, both  and Ipp's were going full speed ahead. While I'm on the subject, while both are Italian, there couldn't be a wider gap in the type of restaurants that they are. Vingenzo's, just named one of the top 50 restaurants in Atlanta magazine (congratulations!), is Northern Italian, which consists of very fresh, made on premises foods. Even the olives are imported straight from Italy. But, they would be considered a much "lighter" fare.

If it's "traditional" Italian you're looking for, across the street at Ipp's you'll find it. Meatballs, lasagna and lots of red tomato sauce...and those garlic rolls! So it depends on which type of Italian you're looking for. Both are excellent.  (Psst...even the pizzas are different).

The rest of the shops that were open were doing a brisk and steady business. So, on the way back home I started noticing the license plates parked around town. While Cherokee was certainly represented, the majority of cars carried plates from Fulton, Cobb and Pickens. A couple were from Henry and Dekalb. What does this mean? Woodstock is fast becoming a destination place.

Just wait. Fire StoneFreight Depot and Tap and  are all scheduled to open in the next few months. Then we'll have a parking challenge; something I'm looking forward to.
