Raquel Nelson's Jaywalking Case Headed Back To Cobb State Court - Marietta Patch

The case of Raquel Nelson, the Cobb mother who came into the national spotlight after her 4-year-old son was struck and killed as he crossed Austell Road in 2010, is headed back to theCobb County State Court.

Nelson, who contended that her retrial was barred since the evidence was insufficient to sustain her conviction, appealed a Cobb judge's ruling to the Court of Appeals of Georgia. Marietta Patch has more on this story.

Mother of Bryan County Pit Bull Victim Arrested - Ft. Stewart Patch

The mother of a Bryan County toddler who was killed last month in a pit bull attack has been arrested, according to the Savannah Morning News.

Summer Laminack, 18, was charged with cruelty to children and second-degree criminal negligence. She was arrested Tuesday and later released on a $5,000 bond, according to the Morning News. Laminack's daughter, Monica Renee Laminack, was attacked and killed March 27 by seven dogs -- all pit bulls or pit bull mixes -- that were owned by her family. Monica would have been 2 years old in June. Ft. Stewart Patch has more on this story. 

Police Release IDs in Fatal Austell Wreck - South Cobb Patch

A 29-year-old Roswell man and a 41-year-old Marietta man died in a fatal wreck that temporarily shut down a major Austell thoroughfare early this morning.

Just after 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, an Austell police officer attempted to make a traffic stop on a silver 2005 Acura TL on Pontiac Circle near Maxham Road. As the officer attempted to approach the driver, identified this evening as Chrystina L. Stanford of Roswell, he sped away and headed northbound on Maxham Road in the southbound lanes, said Officer Mike Bowman, the spokesman for the Cobb County Police Department. Police: Teen Punched For Three Hours - West Cobb Patch

Inside a home on Harmony Road last Friday morning, a 16-year-old girl was repeatedly punched in the face over a nearly three hour period.

Keisha Mitchell of Powder Springs allegedly threw the first punch at 2:45 a.m. April 12, according to a Cobb County criminal warrant. The last one was thrown about 5:30 a.m. The teen called her father during the incident, and he contacted the police. West Cobb Patch has more on this story.

15-Year-Old Reported Missing - Douglasville Patch

Fifteen-year-old Jacqueline Bryant, from Douglasville, has been reported missing since April 12, on the Missing Persons of America Facebook page.

According to the post, Jacqueline is 5 foot 8 inches and weighs about 120 pounds. She is black with black hair and brown eyes. Douglasville Patch has more on this story.
