Interstate 75 northbound at U.S. 411 in Cartersville was shut down due to a fatal crash and vehicle fire Friday afternoon. Bartow County Sheriff's Office sent this alert about 1:50 p.m.:

A fatal crash occurred Thursday afternoon on South Gordon Road in Austell, leaving one man dead and three others severely injured including an Austell teen, according to the Cobb County Police Department. .

Thursday evening, December 20th at about 5:30 p.m., police responded to a call of a man shot in the parking lot of Therrell High School near Mt. Gilead. This call began a series of unrelated gunshot calls in the span of 2 hours. .

A former Cumming Elementary School PTO treasurer pleaded guilty Wednesday to stealing more than $30,000 from the parent teacher organization and was given a 15-year sentence to serve on probation.

Jamie Garfield, 37, entered a gulity plea to three counts of theft by taking, according to Forsyth Chief Assistant District Attorney Sandra Partridge. .
