Crossfire Youth Group Grabs Top Honors for Christmas Float

Here are the Christmas Jubilee and Parade of Lights decoration winners.

And the winners are ...

Perfect weather blessed the City of Woodstock Christmas Jubilee Parade of Lights and parade watchers in the thousands who came to downtown Woodstock on Dec. 3 to witness more than 200 parade entries march down Main Street!

Crossfire Youth Ministry’s float was voted Best Holiday Float.

The Crossfire float focused on giving, rather than receiving, featuring a modern day Mary, Joseph and Jesus who were homeless. The float presented an Atlanta skyline and two street performers who sang Christmas songs. The ministry’s trash can drum band followed by street performers dancing with scarves carrying graffiti-themed banners asking everyone to “Love One Another as You Love Yourself!”

Most Original Float honors went to , which presented "Santa's Workshop."

Under a snow covered roof all the little elves were busy making toys while Mrs. Claus was knitting by the fire. Other elves paraded alongside the float pulling little red wagons and giving out hundreds of toys to all the good little boys and girls.

This year’s Christmas decorating contest winners were:

  • Mayor’s Award and Best Religious Display—Chris and Sandy Reeves, 809 Randy Ct. in Driftwood Forest.
  • Best Christmas Elegance—The Rexford family, 525 Drifton Way in Kingsgate.
  • Best Use of Lights—The entire street of Old Settlers Court in Deer Run.
  • Best Use of Christmas Characters—Don and Anne Wooldridge, 701 Christy Ct. in Driftwood Forest.
  • Griswold Award—Russell Sprouse, 307 Antler Way in Deer Run.

The winners of the parade floats and the second citywide Christmas decorating contest will receive their plaques at the Jan. 9 meeting.
