Where to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Woodstock

The celebration of Mexican heritage on May 5 is sometimes mistaken for Mexico’s Independence Day.

However, Cinco de Mayo actually commemorates the Battle of Puebla, a turning point in Mexican history and freedom.

In the U.S., it is celebrated by observing Mexican culture through food, drinks and dancing. If you are looking for a fiesta with margaritas, live bands and authentic food, read on for the best places to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Woodstock.

  • Papa P's will ahve food and drink specials all weekend. On Sunday, a live Mariachi music will play between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. 
  • Due to the inclement weather, Pure Taqueria in downtown Woodstock will not open its rooftop this weekend and will hold its Cinco de Mayo celebration on Saturday May 11. Axel with ROCK 100.5 will be here from noon to 4 p.m. Patrons can register to win The Ultimate Peso Payoff of $12,340 pesos ($1,000 U.S.). 
  • Monterrey Mexican Restaurant will start its "Cinco de Mayo" party Saturday and will continue through Sunday 
  • La Parilla in Towne Lake will have T-shirts, live music and prizes for its party on May 5.
