Freeze Warning, Wind Advisory in Effect Tonight

Cherokee County could see temperatures dip into the lower 30s tonight.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a freeze warning for north and west central Georgia.

The warning will be in effect between 8 p.m. Tuesday evening to 10 a.m. Wednesday. Temperatures are expected to drop into the lower 30s tonight and through Wednesday morning. Winds are also expected to be brisk tonight, coming form the northwest at 15 to 25 miles per hour, with gusts up to 40 miles per hour.

Winds are expected to remain strong throughout the evening, which will make driving difficult for highΒ profile vehicles. Drivers are advised to use extra caution and boaters should also use caution as strong winds could produce a rough chop on area lakes.Β

The wind advisory has also propelled the city of Woodstock to once again ban outdoor burning on Tuesday. The city imposed the same ban on Monday due to the high wind advisory.

A freeze warning means freezing temperatures are forecast to threaten outdoor plants. Those with agricultural interests in the warned area are advised to harvest or protect tender vegetation.
