Woman Scammed Out of $40K; 911 Caller Sought for Evidence in Rape Case

Two men, through a series of phone conversations and mailings, convinced a 76-year-old woman to cough up more than $40,000 in so-called tax payments if she wanted to secure the money from a lottery win, according to Cobb County warrants.

In actuality, the woman was no lottery winner, records show. And the $40,750 that she sent the men went into the Chase bank account of an alleged scammer, Damien Jervon Reed of Powder Springs. See Kennesaw Patch for more on this story.

Police Seek 911 Caller for Evidence in Rape Case - Norcross Patch

The Norcross Police Department is searching for an anonymous 911 caller alleging she was raped in 2012 because they believe the incident may be related to a similar case in Norcross.

According to Sgt. Bill Grogan of Norcross Police, a man was arrested in early March on charges of rape and aggravated sodomy on a 21-year-old female he met at the Guest Inn in Norcross. Police have asked for the suspect's identity not to be released. See Norcross Patch for details on this story.

Alpharetta Reveals Fatal Shooting Suspect Caught in DeKalb - Alpharetta Patch

U.S. Marshals captured a suspect in an Alpharetta fatal shooting in DeKalb County.

Shane Demetrice Woods was captured at 7:30 p.m. on March 12 by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Squad.

Woods was found hiding at a residence in DeKalb County. The U.S. Marshals made the arrest with the assistance of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. .

Police Release Photos of Suspected Bank Robber - Midtown Patch

The Atlanta police want residents to be on the lookout for the individual in the attached photos who is suspected of robbing a PNC Bank on Wednesday.

According to Officer John Chafee, "the suspect entered the bank, passed a note to the teller demanding $5000 in cash. The suspect was given over $3,000 in cash and fled the location on foot." .
