Rick Steiner Seeks Third Term on Cherokee School Board

Steiner said he wants continue to expand options and choice for students, increase the district's graduation rate and "restore teacher morale."

Incumbent Cherokee County School Board member Rick Steiner will seek re-election to the seat he's held since 2006.

Steiner, whose legal name is Robert Rechsteiner, announced on Friday his plans to seek re-election to the District 4 seat, which covers parts of Towne Lake and southwest Cherokee County.

“It has been my honor to represent the students, parents and taxpayers of Cherokee County on the school board,” Steiner said of his tenure.

Steiner, a Republican, was appointed to the board in November 2005 to fill a vacancy. He won the election to the seat in 2006 and was re-elected in 2010.

Steiner served as the board's vice chair in 2010 and was named chairman in 2011.

"I’ve been proud to see us start new programs, increase our use of classroom technology and increase our test scores," he added. "But, I know we have more work to do, and I would like to continue my service on the board as we work to expand options and choices for students, increase our graduation rate and restore teacher morale."

Steiner works in the real estate industry and is a former professional wrestler. He's also won several world titles using the ring name Rick Steiner.

Steiner and wife Jayme live in Woodstock and have three children. Their youngest son is a sophomore at Etowah High School.
