Woodstock Candidates Will Face Off in Forum

Two local media outlets will host a political forum at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Cherokee Arts Center.

Two local media outlets will host a political forum for candidates running in two municipal races.

A forum, sponsored by the Cherokee Tribune and WLJA radio 101.1 FM, will be held 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Cherokee Arts Center in downtown Canton.

Candidates for the Nov. 5 elections running for Woodstock and Canton city council seats are slated to participate.

Audience members can submit questions to the candidates through the Tribune's Facebook page or via email at tribune@cherokeetribune.com. The deadline to submit questions is Tuesday.

Candidates for the Woodstock City Council races are: Warren Johnson and John Szczesniak for Ward 1; Judy Davila and incumbent Bob Mueller for Ward 3; and incumbent Bud Leonard and Susan L. Jones for Ward 5.

Canton candidates are: Sandy McGrew and Clint Weatherby for Ward 1; Ari Durham and Bill Grant for Ward 2; and Molly Lewis, John Rust, Thomas Sanders and Farris Yawn for Ward 3.

“We are pleased to give the public the opportunity to hear the candidates on the issues and to be a part of the election process in this manner,” said Tribune Managing Editor Rebecca Johnston.
