Learn about the reasons children are both hungry and overweight at the same time, and what you can do to help in the Woodstock/Acworth area. Heritage leaders Ken Loud, Brittany Gunter, Susan Korbett, and Howard Dean who are involved in Heritage hunger ministries, including Santa's Caravan (food and toy distribution), Jay Weaver Food Pantry and Mobile Food Pantry, and Kevin's Garden Community Garden will discuss the challenges they face as they reach out to our community.

Registered dietitian Debbie Boyd, a Heritage member, will be facilitating the discussion of hunger and its impact on young children and their ability to learn and succeed in school.

As a Kids Eat Right Campaign Member and member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Boyd was awarded one of 50 mini-grants by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation on September 25 for her proposal to provide nutrition work- shops to teens and adults in cooperation with Heritage Presbyterian Church, a faith-based organization with a wide community outreach. Kids Eat Right is a platform designed to ensure that sound nutrition recommendations are part of childhood obesity prevention and hunger awareness. A member-driven public education campaign, Kids Eat Right, mobilizes the Academy’s 75, 000 members to support families, schools, and communities in their pursuit of quality nutrition for all children.
