Funeral For Lucy Boettcher Set for Sunday

The funeral for the Etowah High School student will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at His Hands Church in Woodstock.

Funeral services for the Etowah High School student who died in a single vehicle accident earlier this week will be held on Sunday.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 1 for Shania "Lucy" Boettcher of Woodstock at His Hands Church. Pastor Jarad Houser will officiate the service. The church is at 550 Molly Lane in Woodstock. 

Sosebee Funeral Home in Canton is handling the arrangements. 

According to Dunwoody Police, the accident occurred around 8:27 p.m. on Interstate 285 at Chamblee-Dunwoody Road. 

A Ford Explorer traveling eastbound "lost control and rolled several times," the agency said in a news release. One person was ejected while another was "partially ejected" from the SUV.  

Another person, a 2010 Etowah High School graduate, Darius Valcarcel, 22, also died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Another passenger and Boetthcer's boyfriend, Anthony White, 21 of Dallas, TX, and driver Shauna Clausen, 17, were both transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where they were treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Students at Etowah on Wednesday held a vigil to honor Boettcher, who was set to graduate from the school on Friday. 

According to Boettcher's obituary, she is survived by her "parents, Rusty and Nina Boettcher; siblings, Sam, Michelle and Luna; beloved friend and true love, Anthony White; grandmothers, Donnie Balthazar and Nancy Boettcher; great-grandfather, George Comfort; aunts and uncles, Cheryl and Mark, Kathleen and Eric, Lantz and Lou, Celeste, Michele, Sam and Sarah; many cousins and great aunts and uncles on both coasts."

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lucy Boettcher Memorial Fund. According to the fundraising page, Boettcher was spending the week with White and her family before she was to walk across the stage Friday evening.
 
Boettcher was also attending classes at Kennesaw State University and wanted to become a nurse. 

She also learned a week earlier that she got her first home, and was planning to have a house warming party after she moved in, according to the fundraising page. According to her Facebook page, Boettcher was once a model for Brooklynn's, a downtown Woodstock boutique. 

Her profile also lists her working as an officer manager at Back To Basic Health Chiropractic and a wedding coordinator at An Elegant Occasion.
