In Memoriam: John Holcombe, Retired Master Sergeant in U.S. Air Force

The following obituary was submitted by Woodstock Funeral Home:

John Ronald Holcombe, of Acworth, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at Heritage Hospice following an extended illness. He was 74.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Friday Nov. 8, 2013, at Woodstock Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Grant officiating.

Burial will follow in Rolling Hills Cemetery with Woodstock Funeral Home directing.

Visitation was held on Thursday at Woodstock Funeral Home. 

The family asks that donations be made to MUST Ministries, 111 Brown Industrial Pkwy, Canton, GA 30114 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 5901 Peachtree Dunwoody Road N.E. #A, Atlanta, GA 30328. 

Holcombe was born February 24, 1939, in Jasper to the late Herbert David and Virginia Price Holcombe. Holcombe served his country faithfully in the U.S. Air Force for 31 years. He retired as Master Sergeant. 

Holcombe is survived by his wife, Sarah Ruth Holcomb, Acworth; two sons, Tim Holcombe of Woodstock and John David Holcombe (Kim) of Ellijay; one daughter, Anita Tucker (John) of Suwanee; two sisters, Brenda Oliver (Jim) Jasper and Jean Wingo, both of Jasper; one brother, Kenneth David Holcombe (Carol) of Wisconsin; two grandchildren, Jake Edison Tucker of Suwanee and Staff Sergeant Josh Metcalf of Valdosta; and several nieces and nephews.
