In Memory: Laura McKim, Generous Earring Maker

McKim retired from the Travelers Insurance Company and loved making earrings for relatives.

Laura Louise Donaldson McKim, 85, of Kennesaw, Carey Park, and East Point, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 4, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Katie Ingrisch Donaldson; the loving wife for 62 years to deceased, Joseph James McKim and the loving mother of surviving daughters Katherine Deadwyler (Harry), Francie Turner (Tim) and Jody Pharr (Danny).

She is survived by six grandchildren, Joseph Pharr (Irene), Justin Chander (Elisabeth), Matthew Turner (Jennifer), Laura Brown (Erran), Rachel Lanning (Keith), and Christopher Chandler, ten grandchildren, Katie and Hunter Brown, Alyssa Turner, Ansley Pharr, Hadley and Grace Chandler, Jessica, Rachel, Joseph and Daniel Pharr.

Laura is a retired employee from the Travelers Insurance Company and also worked at the Frank B. Hall Insurance Agency. A kind, generous and caring woman, she always put others before herself. One of her favorite pastimes for the last several years has been making earrings. Spreading her generosity by giving hundreds of earrings to relatives, friends and many strangers.

A funeral service was held on Saturday at the Woodstock Funeral Home chapel. Interment followed at River View Memorial Park in Smyrna. Condolences may be offered online at Woodstock Funeral Home's website
