The Rain, the White and the Blue: Woodstock Celebrates a Wet 4th of July!

WOODSTOCK, Ga.—For 237 years, the United States has celebrated its independence with barbecues, patriotic displays of red, white and blue, and crowd pleasing parades. Right now, the nation’s largest birthday party is gearing up in downtown Woodstock complete with runners, Main Street’s FreedomFest parade, festival music and fireworks at dusk. Come prepared with your patriotism, and this year, maybe your poncho or rain gear.

The Weather Channel predicts a great chance of rain for tomorrow, but don’t think that means you have to stay home this year.

“If we have light rain, the parade and festival will go on. If we are getting a downpour or have inclement or dangerous weather, The City of Woodstock may have to cancel the parade and festival and make a call on the fireworks later that evening on the hopes it will clear up for the show. The City will try to make the determination as early as possible. The City of Woodstock has no makeup date for the parade and festival, but will reschedule the fireworks for July 5th if necessary. Please watch the city website (www.WoodstockGA.gov) for updates,” said the City earlier on the chance of a wet Independence Day.

In the case that the parade and festival do get rained out on the 4th, don’t worry! July 5, 2013 is the Friday Nite Live theme AmericaFest in downtown Woodstock from 6-9pm downtown where there will be plenty of patriotism, and in the event of inclement weather on the 4th, fireworks.
