14 Graduate from Woodstock Public Safety Academy

Fourteen residents last week graduated from Woodstock's Citizens Public Safety Academy.

The residents received their diploma during a graduation ceremony held June 13 at Magnolia Hall from Police Chief Calvin Moss and Fire Chief Dave Soumas. 

Those graduating were: Stephanie, Adkins, Ronald Alsup, Mark Bernhardt, Marvin Clark, Sharon Clark, Christine Divine, Deborah Divine, Stephen Divine, Markam Hersh, Brett Laney, Linda Palmer, Gisela Villena Silva, Darrell Simpson and Christina Woody.

The academy offers a series of classes that will educate residents on several key aspects of both agencies. 

It's also intended to strengthen the agencies' relationship with the citizens while showcasing their responsibilities and risks associated with their professions. 

Soem of the classes taught during the 12 week series include domestic violence response, criminal investigation procedures, crime prevention, SWAT demonstrations, fire safety and fire prevention.

The Woodstock Police Department and the Woodstock Fire Department both plan to host another series, the date of which has not been set.
