Alabama Car Break-In Suspects Tied to Cherokee Crimes

Two men who were arrested in November after a police chase are believed to be behind at least six car break-ins in Cherokee County.

The Cherokee Sheriff's Office believes two men who were arrested last month in a neighboring state are responsible for at least six car break-ins in Cherokee County.

Authorities in Pelham, Alabama, on Nov. 14 arrested Oscar Moses Badger, 37, of Dania, Florida, and Bobby Hanna, 24, of Plantation, Florida, after a car chase and crash, said Cherokee Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Lt. Jay Baker.

Baker said the chase started after police were dispatched to a possible car break-in at a Pelham daycare. A third suspect fled the scene and remains at large, he added.

Officers with the Pelham Police Department on Tuesday reached out to Cherokee Sheriff's Office investigators to notify the agency they found evidence that linked the two men to the crimes, which occurred between Nov. 1 and Nov. 10 in Cherokee, Baker said.

Cherokee investigators have secured arrest warrants on six counts of entering auto for both Badger and Hanna and additional charges are likely in the case. They also believe the suspects could be behind similar thefts in Gwinnett County and Peachtree City.

Both men remain behind bars in Alabama. However, since both were out on bond for similar crimes committed in Philadelphia and Houston, their current bond has been set at $2 million, Baker noted.
