Burglar Found Hiding in Clothes Bin at Goodwill

Karim Tawfik was caught allegedly burglarizing the store on Highway 92 in Woodstock early Wednesday morning.

A Woodstock man has been arrested for allegedly burglarizing a store early Wednesday morning. 

Karim Tawfik, 24, was arrested by Woodstock police officers as he was allegedly caught in the act of burglarizing Goodwill, located at 9425 Highway 92, the Woodstock Police Department said in a news release. 

At around 2:50 a.m., Corporal Ron Sinfelt and officer Yvonne Letzin both responded to an alarm call at the store. When they arrived, the noticed the bay door at the store was "partially open," agency spokeswoman Brittany Duncan said. 

With the help of other officers and the Acworth Police Department's K-9 Unit, Tawfik was found hiding in a clothes bin covered with purses, Duncan said.

Tawfik is behind bars at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center and has been charged with burglary, criminal trespassing, misdemeanor obstruction and possession of tools for commission of crime.
