According to a press release from the Cherokee Sheriff's Office, a neighbor called 911 after noticing a suspicious vehicle park in the driveway of the home targeted.

"The neighbor watched as the suspects entered the home," Sheriff's Office Spokesman Lt. Jay Baker said. "The neighbor was able to provide 911 dispatchers with a description and tag number of the suspect vehicle as well as a direction of travel when the suspects left the home."

"Numerous" deputies responded to the call near Hobgood Park and spotted the suspected vehicle in the crime traveling north on Bells Ferry Road.

A sheriff's deputy pulled over the vehicle on Countryside Lane and Bennett, who was the passenger, allegedly took a backpack from the car and ran on foot from the scene.

The deputy took off after Bennett, who was later captured in a neighborhood off Wyngate Parkway.

Meantime, Richardson allegedly drove away from the traffic stop and proceeded to head north on Bells Ferry Road.

Sheriff's deputies later spotted the vehicle near Wooten Drive and were able to stop the vehicle in the parking lot of Hopewell Baptist Church on Ridge Road. Richardson was also taken into custody.

The victim's possessions — tools, jewelry, safe, laptop computer, credit cards, and other unnamed items — were all recovered.

Bennett was charged with burglary and two counts of obstruction and is being held on a $12,560 bond.

Richardson is facing burglary and driving with a suspended license charge. His bond is set at $12,555.
