Burned Body Found Near Woodstock

A 27-year-old man's burned body was found in a wooded area along Dupree Road in Woodstock.

An autopsy will be conducted tomorrow to determine the cause of death of a man whose burned body was found near a mobile home park near Woodstock.

Cherokee Sheriff's Office deputies Sunday afternoon were dispatched to a wooded area near the Noonday Mobile Home Park on Dupree Road after another person discovered the remains.

The body, which was "badly burned," appeared to have been at the scene for a "number of days" and a gas tank and lighter were spotted near the body, said Cherokee Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Lt. Jay Baker.

The body was identified as Armando Ruiz Medina, 27, of Woodstock, who was reported missing on Saturday by his ex-girlfriend. When she reported Medina missing to authorities, Baker said she informed deputies she'd broken up with him last Tuesday.

The woman told deputies that Media was "reportedly very upset over the break up," Baker added.
