Cherokee Deputies Graduate From Public Safety Training Center
The six deputies completed over 400 hours of training during the past 11 weeks.
Six Cherokees Sheriff's Office deputies recently completed over 400 hours of training in middle Georgia.
The deputies on Friday graduated from the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) in Forsyth.
Deputies Christopher Casey, Robert Slover, Nicholas Bell, Lance Wright, Jose Burgos and Jasmine Martin, whom are all assigned to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center, all completed 408 hours of police training over the past 11 weeks at the center.

The GPSTC is responsible for the training of all public safety officers, job-specific training programs for state agencies and advanced and specialized training for state and local peace officers. They also coordinate chief executive training and supervisory management training.
GPSTC's Basic Mandate course, which is required to be a peace officer in Georgia, is an 11-week course which teaches the fundamentals of law enforcement.
