Citizens' Academy Taking Applications

The Woodstock Police Department will run the eight-week academy starting April 11.

The is taking applications for its annual Citizens Police Academy starting April 11.

The eight-week course will be held every Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Magnolia Hall at 108 Arnold Mill Road.

Participants will have the opportunity to work with Woodstock police officers to receive a better understanding of law enforcement. Some of the offered classes taught by Woodstock officers include Domestic Violence Response, Criminal Investigation Procedures, Crime Prevention, Traffic Unit and Patrol Officer Functions and K-9 Demonstrations.

Graduates of the academy are eligible to volunteer with the Woodstock Police Department and pursue a position with the Auxiliary Unit.

Participants must be 19 years of age, live or work in Woodstock and undergo a background screening to apply. Once accepted, positions are awarded to the first 25 applicants.

Applications can be picked up in person at the Woodstock Police Department at 12453 Hwy. 92. The deadline is Wednesday, March 28.
