Driver Gets Forgery for Using Friend's License

The driver's friend turned her in after she received a notice of unpaid traffic citations, police say.

A Woodstock woman was arrested Feb. 18 for forgery for using her friend’s driver’s license at a traffic stop.

Jennifer Hawkins, 24, was stopped at Main Street and Highway 92 Oct. 13.

“Since the officer had no reason to believe Ms. Hawkins was anyone other than who she presented herself to be, the officer issued two citations to the owner of the driver’s license,” said Brittany Duncan, spokeswoman.

The citations were made out to the actual driver’s license’s owner, her friend, one for no insurance and one for an expired registration. And when they weren’t paid, a letter was sent via snail mail to her, Duncan said.

On Feb. 1, the owner of the driver’s license told the Woodstock police, she had not received the citations, but Hawkins had used her license.

After a two-week long investigation and being arrested, Hawkins admitted the reason she used her friend’s driver’s license was to conceal her identity as she knew she had active warrants for her arrest through Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and City of Roswell.
