UPDATE: Driver Killed in Cherokee County Accident

A vehicle traveling eastbound on Arnold Mill Road in Woodstock left the roadway, hit a utility pole and ejected the driver, who died at the scene.

UPDATE at 10:35 p.m.: The driver has been identified as John Henry Tabb IV, 27, of Marietta. Tabb was driving a 2010 Hyundai Genesis.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a single vehicle accident that took the life of the driver early Saturday morning.

Troopers with GSP's Jasper post were called to investigate the accident at around 6:15 a.m. in the Woodstock area of unincorporated Cherokee County. 

The driver died after the Hyundai he was driving "left the roadway in a curve" while traveling eastbound on Arnold Mill Road near North Arnold Mill Road and Janaluska Drive, GSP spokesman Gordy Wright said. 

The vehicle hit a utility pole and the driver was ejected from the vehicle. Wright said he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Blood was drawn from the victim, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, to determine if alcohol was a contributing factor, Wright added. The victim's next of kin has not been located at this time, so authorities are not releasing his name.
