Fire Damages Woodstock Home Monday Afternoon

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

A two-story house was damaged after it caught fire Monday afternoon. The family at 1058 River Plantation Drive escaped without any injuries.

and Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services were called to the Woodstock home at approximately 5:15 p.m. and found the structure ablaze.

Tim Cavender, Cherokee Fire and Emergency Services spokesman, said firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the house. Half the home received major fire damage while the other half received smoke and water damage.

Cherokee County Fire Investigator, Ossie Delay, said the fire apparently started in a bedroom, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation as of Tuesday afternoon.
