Former Coach Gets 10 Years in Sex Assault Case

Robert Leslie Morrow will serve 240 days behind bars, and the rest of the 10 year sentence on probation as a sex offender.

A former coach at River Ridge High School has been sentenced to 10 years after he was found guilty of having sexual contact with a student.

Robert Leslie Morrow was sentenced on March 14 after a jury convicted him sexual assault by a person with supervisory and disciplinary authority, court documents show.

Specifically, he will serve 240 days behind bars and the rest on probation as a sex offender, according to the Cherokee Tribune.

Morrow in August 2011 was arrested by the Woodstock Police Department after the agency learned the former coach had sex with a student in 2010.

The student told police the incident took place inside Morrow's vehicle in a business park inside the River Park subdivision. The student also told another teacher, Kristin May of Canton, of the incident, but the teacher did not report it to authorities.

After an internal investigation, both Morrow and May eventually resigned in 2011 from the Cherokee County School District.
