GBI Crime Lab Releases Analysis of Skeletal Remains

The remains found in Woodstock are believed to be that of a black man between the age of 27 and 53.

The skeletal remains discovered in southern Cherokee County appear to be a black man who was about six feet tall.

That is the determination of a medical examiner at the GBI crime lab that analyzed the skeletal remains discovered on Saturday by biologists along South Cherokee Lane in Woodstock.

The man was also believed to have been between 27 and 53 years old, added Cherokee Sheriff's Office Spokesman Lt. Jay Baker.

Baker also said an expandable baton in a nylon case on the man's belt was also discovered at the scene.

Investigators have released photos (which can be viewed above) of the type of shoes, baton and blue jeans that were found along with the remains, but the items are not the actual objects found at the scene, Baker added.

The amount of time the remains were in the area has not been discovered, the sheriff's office spokesman said.
