News Near Woodstock: Cherokee Man Dies in Fatal Shooting

A man was shot and killed just after midnight on Sunday at a home along Waleska Highway in southern Pickens County.

The Pickens County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are working to piece together what led up to the fatal shooting of a Cherokee County man over the weekend.

Just after midnight on Sunday, the Pickens County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a fatal shooting at 1051 Waleska Highway 108.

Deputies arrived at the home and found Cherokee County resident Scott Terrell, 44, dead at the scene, said Brad Parks, special agent in charge at the GBI's offices in Cleveland.

Parks said the residence belongs to a man by the name of Alex Rebo.

An autopsy for Terrell is scheduled to be held sometime this week at the GBI's Crime Lab to determine the exact cause of death, Parks added.

"We currently still doing interviews and still processing the information we've got," he added.

He noted no charges have been filed at this point in the investigation.
