Police Pick Up Pills

Woodstock Police Department participates in the National Take Back Initiative.

Stop by the City Park today between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. with all your unwanted, unused or expired prescriptions.

The Woodstock Police Department is teaming up with the Drug Enforcement Administration for the second consecutive year to participate in the National Take Back Initiative. The first National Prescription Drug Take Back Day was on Sept. 25, 2010, and more than 121 tons of pills were collected.

The purpose of this event is to provide a venue for residents to dispose of those unwanted and unused prescription drugs and keeping them from becoming potentially dangerous. The program wants to keep the pills out of the hands of others and out of local water systems. More than 7 million Americans abuse prescription drugs, according to the 2009 Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration’s National Survey on Drug Use and Health.
