Possible Lightning Strike Causes Fire

Residents escape their Towne Lake home without any injuries.

and Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a structure fire in Towne Lake shortly after 3 p.m.

Tim Cavender, spokesman of the Cherokee Fire and EMS, said the residents from 2012 Towne Lake Hills West house were home during the fire but escaped without any injuries.

Battalion Chief David Tilson reported a lot of smoke was coming from the two-story house when firefighters arrived on the scene and most of the smoke was coming from the attic area. Firefighters quickly got the fire knocked down before any major damage could occur.

The fire appeared to have been started by a lightning strike from the afternoon storm, Cavender said.
