Residents Wanted for Citizens Public Safety Academy

The deadline to apply for the Fall 2013 Citizens Public Safety Academy is Sept. 23.

The Woodstock Police Department is looking for residents to join its Fall 2013 Citizens' Public Safety Academy.

The course is slated to start on Sept. 25, and will include a series of sessions that will inform residents about the various aspects of both the police and Woodstock Fire Department. 

It's designed to "strengthen the relationship between the citizens and the Woodstock Police and Fire Departments, as well as spotlight the responsibilities of public safety personnel and the inherent risks associated with the professions," according to a press release.

Some classes that will be offered include domestic violence response, criminal investigation procedures, crime prevention, SWAT presentation, fire safety and fire prevention.

The classes will be held between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. each Wednesday Sept. 25 through Nov. 20 at Magnolia Hall.

Anyone who residents or works in the city of Woodstock or has expressed an interest in the city can apply for the academy. Participants must be at least 19 years old and submit to a background check before they can be accepted. 

Applications are available online at www.woodstockga.gov/police/cpa or in person at the Woodstock Police Department, located at 12453 Highway 92. The deadline for accepting applications is Sept. 23.
