Arrows shot through a sign in protest sounds like something out of the Wild West, but it’s not. It’s reality for the candidate running against Roger Garrison this year.
David Waters said his signs have been vandalized since December 2010,
“We have had our signs ripped down, we have had them cut, we have had holes punched through them, and including arrows shot from a bow where they still remain,” Waters said.
The confirmed that the signs on Highway 140 had been vandalized with a bow and arrow.
"It is very disheartening that exercising my Constitutional Right and Freedom of Speech and experience this type of criminal activity from persons,” Waters said. “This is the main reason I am running for Sheriff of Cherokee County is to reduce the crime rate that we see today. If someone has a problem with my candidacy for Sheriff, then that person should have the fortitude to contact me and display their concerns.”
On May 13, the David Waters sign was stolen from the Canton CVS parking lot, according to Waters’ Facebook page. This theft was less than 24 hours after Waters was endorsed by the
Waters asks that the public help him patrol locations where signs are and forward any information that will help stop the vandalism and theft of signs.

Kary, I see nowhere that you show who you are supporting. I do see that you are trying to get the facts, which is what many voters need to do. This election needs to be about who's best for Cherokee County, not about popularity. I have know Roger for years and used to find him to be a great sheriff, until recently. I have recently met David, spoke to several people who work(ed) with him, past and present and who speak highly of him. Roger doesn't have the heart he used to have for Cherokee and it's time for Cherokee to be the great county it has the potential of being. If you haven't decided yet, I request that you sit down, email or call David Waters and Roger Garrison and get the facts, or better yet, speak to past employees of both and ask them their opinions, since you can't ask Garrison's current employees. Good luck in your voting!
Davids misquoted figures were given to him inaccurately. The person to blame for that is the one who gave it to him. Secondly- David didnt blame the officers for shooting Andrew, he blamed the policies. And believe it or not, David knew a lot more about the case than you believe. In regards to asking current employees how they feel- that works well if they are able to give their honest opinions. View his Facebook page. You'll see several people who work with him and believe in him. But as far as Cherokee, they're not allowed to give their honest opinion because Cherokee's policy says they can't say anything negative anywhere, on or off the clock, that may be negative towards the agency or Roger. Why would n agency need to create such a rule if they knew their employees were happy? And what about the employees first amendment rights? Well i think in my last comment we learned how Roger feels about freedom of speech. (To be continued)
Again, he's saying that policy shouldn't allow them to put themselves that close to harms way when there isn't a need for it. Time was on their side. It had been an hour and a half. Andrew was in there by himself. He wasn't hurting anyone. There was no reason they had to go to that door and there was no reason they couldn't hold on. It was impatience that got him shot, and Roger should have prevented them from getting that close when there was no threat involved, except verbal threats. If anything is a slap in the face, it's Roger saying that he wouldn't change a thing. He's saying that he thinks he's right and what happened that night was right. And he's wrong! It could have been so much better handled and he can't let go of his pride long enough to admit it!
