Teen Dies in Cobb Crash, Charges Pending for Woodstock Driver

An accident late Monday night near Piedmont and Bells Ferry Roads also hospitalized two others.

An Acworth teenager has died after a two-vehicle accident in Northeast Cobb late Monday evening. 

Cobb Police Spokesman Officer Michael Bowman said that Laquan Hilton, 17, of Acworth, died after sustaining injuries in a crash at the intersection of Piedmont Road and Bells Ferry Road, where Piedmont becomes Barrett Parkway. 

The victim was a passenger in a 1990 Mazda Miata that collided with a 2006 Kia Sorrento shortly after 11 p.m. Monday, Bowman said.

He said the Mazda, driven by Gabriel Hidalgo, 19, of Woodstock, was traveling westbound on Piedmont as it approached the intersection, then attempted a U-turn to the eastbound direction of Piedmont.

At that point, Bowman said, the passenger side of the Mazda where Hilton was seated was struck by the Kia, which was heading eastbound on Barrett Parkway and driven by Michael Williams, 26, of Marietta.

Both Hidalgo and Williams were transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital and are listed in stable condition, according to Bowman.

Bowman said charges are pending and that anyone with more information about the accident to call Cobb Police at 770-499-3987.
