Woman Accused of Stealing Wallet While at Church

Investigators obtained video surveillance footage from Target and were able to identify a suspect.

Of all the places to have something stolen.

A parishioner at First Baptist Church noticed her wallet was missing several hours after attending a May 23 service, said Brittany Duncan, spokeswoman for the police department.

But that was just the beginning of her woes. When she reported her credit card stolen to the company, she was advised that it had already been used at the Target in Woodstock for $76.40 in charges.

Arrest warrants were secured for Melissa Rodriquez, 37, of Marietta. She turned herself in to Cherokee County Adult Detention Center last Friday.

Rodriquez is charged with theft by taking, financial transaction card theft and financial transaction card fraud.
