Woodstock Fugitive Caught in Florida

Jacob Harris is charged with assaulting and kidnapping the mother of his child, among other counts.

A fugitive from Woodstock justice is in jail in Florida, awaiting transportation back to Cherokee County to face felony charges including aggravated assault and kidnapping.

Jacob Harris, 27, was booked into the Manatee County Jail at 12:48 a.m. June 10, jail records show, on fugitive warrants for six felony charges from an incident the afternoon of May 11 in Woodstock.

That incident was a fight around 12:50 p.m. at a home off Skyridge Drive, said in an announcement today.

The mother of Harris’ child told officers that Harris hit her in the face multiple times and kept her from leaving when she and a friend went to the house to drop off the child.

The friend also was hurt in the fight, police said.

Harris fled before officers arrived, but warrants were issued for his arrest.

He faces charges of aggravated assault and kidnapping under the Family Violence Act, entering an automobile to commit a felony, battery, and two counts of third-degree cruelty to a child.
