Woodstock, Norsouth To Teach Fire Safety to Older Adults

A representative from the Woodstock Fire Department and Norsouth Companies recently participated in a fire and fall prevention training conference.

Woodstock Fire Department Community Outreach Coordinator Sgt. George Williams and Norsouth Companies Social Director Penny Parks were selected to participate in a training conference on fire and fall prevention sponsored by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

The conference, Remembering When: A Fire and Fall Prevention Program for Older Adults, was held Dec. 1 through Dec. 3 in Boston. NFPA selected two-member teams from 30 communities across the United States and Canada to participate in the training.

Teams were composed of one member of a local fire department who partnered with an individual from an agency in a community that serves older adults. Woodstock Fire teamed with Norsouth Companies, the company behind the Hearthside Towne Lake community.
