Woodstock Restaurant Plans Fundraiser for Bicyclist Hit by Truck

JUMP Kitchen & Saloon will donate 10 percent of its proceeds on April 12 to help Zack Hodgson recover from his injuries.

A restaurant in Woodstock is rallying for a man who was hit by a truck while riding his bicycle over the weekend.

JUMP Kitchen & Sports Saloon will hold a fundraiser on Saturday, April 12 at its location for Zack Hodgson, who was struck while riding his bicycle on East Cherokee Drive Saturday evening.

The restaurant is located at 1085 Buckhead Crossing in Woodstock. The restaurant will donate 10 percent of the total sales they make that day to Hodgson's recovery efforts.

The restaurant will also have Jacob Bryant and his band playing that night, and the group plans to donate 100 percent of sales from their merchandise to Hodgson.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, at around 9:36 March 22, a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Woodstock resident Randall Reece Porter, 44, was traveling westbound on East Cherokee Drive approaching Ranchwood Trail when he told authorities he thought a vehicle traveling eastbound was moving into the westbound lane.

Porter swerved to the right, ran off the road and hit Hodgson, 24 of Woodstock, with his side mirror as he passed.

Porter failed to stop and left the scene of an accident. About an hour later, Porter called Cherokee County E-911 to report he "thought he had hit a mailbox on East Cherokee Drive," Watson added.

Porter was charged with failure to maintain lane and hit and run/leaving the scene of an accident.

Hodgson was treated at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta for his injuries.
