Blankets Creek Trails Finally Has the "Whole Experience"

Cherokee County held a ribbon cutting on Tuesday to celebrate the renovations.

One of the country's busiest trail systems now has more organized parking--and standalone restroom facilities.

Cherokee County on Tuesday held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the renovations at Blankets Creek Mountain Bike Trails, located on Sixes Road just outside of Holly Springs. 

The renovations and improvements included increasing parking capacity, realigning and paving the park entrance, the installation of new restroom and changing rooms, two new pavillons, a bike wash station and landscaping improvements.

Bryan Reynolds, director of Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency, said "we finally have amenities in the total park to match the trail to the trail experience."

The ribbon cutting also featured a new fire boat and ATV/trailer used by Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services to access remote areas throughout the mountain bike trail system.

Blankets Creek is the most popular mountain bike trail system in the country, averaging thousands of users on a monthly basis. It has a wide variety of trails for everyone from beginners to experienced mountain bikers.
