Board Holds Several Public Hearings

The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners meets this afternoon for a work session at 3 p.m. and for a regular meeting at 6 p.m.

Plans for the new are moving forward.

At its meeting tonight, the is expected to approve putting the construction of the facility out to bid.

 The Cherokee County Aquatic Center, located at Gresham Mill Parkway at Sixes Road in Holly Springs, was approved and funded as a part of Cherokee County’s Parks, Recreation and Green Space Bond that passed November 2008.

The board will also have several public hearings, and will set the date for a public hearing on a new pain clinic ordinance.

The public hearings scheduled are:

— On the issuance of a permit for the proposed Cherokee C&D Landfill Expansion located at 6285 Ball Ground Highway, Ball Ground.

— On the abandonment of a portion of Old Avery Circle in Land Lots 306 and 307 because the road is abandoned.

— To consider changes to the Building Permit Fee Schedule. Copies of the proposed revisions are on file for review in the Planning and Land Use Department.

— To consider a resolution transmitting the 2011 annual update of the Capital Improvement Element (CIE) and Short Term Work Plan (STWP) to the Atlanta Regional Commission for regional review pursuant to the Georgia Planning Act of 1989.
