Cherokee Begins Trickum Road Resurfacing

The road will be resurfaced between Arnold Mill Road and Barnes Road and is expected to wrap up by early next week at the latest.

A major thoroughfare in southern Cherokee County is getting a much needed makeover.

The Cherokee County Roads and Bridges Department on Monday started resurfacing Trickum Road in Woodstock.

The road will be resurfaced between Arnold Mill Road and its three-way intersection with Barnes Road near Little River Elementary School. The repaving will also include resurfacing the Arnold Mill Road intersection and turn lanes.

Road and Bridges Department Director Cliff Harden said the resurfacing will cost around $55,000 and the county expects to be reimbursed by the Georgia Department of Transportation as a Local Maintenance & Improvement Grant project.

The county will utilize Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax dollars for prep work such as patching, Harden added.

The department is performing the work during daylight hours, and is advising residents to utilize Barnes Road as a detour.

Weather permitting, the county agency expects to wrap up the resurfacing part by Thursday at the earliest, or early next week at the latest. Follow-up work with the shoulders will follow in the next two to three weeks, Harden added.
