Cherokee Nurse Named 'Champion of Immunization'

Nancy Stackhouse was recently given the 2013 Walt Orenstein Champions of Immunization Award.

A Cherokee County Health Department nurse has been named a champion of immunization.

Nancy Stackhouse, a licensed practical nurse and Cherokee County Health Department’s immunization outreach coordinator, was given the 2013 Walt Orenstein Champions for Immunization Award, "which honor individuals, agencies or coalitions that demonstrate excellence in providing immunization care," the North Georgia Health District said.

Stackhouse was given the honor during Georgia Department of Public Health's Immunize Georgia conference, and she was commended for her collaboration with other stakeholders in the community for promoting immunization.

"Nancy deserves this honor because she is truly outstanding in her field," said Cherokee County Health Department Manager Denise Bowman, noting Stackhouse was named Georgia’s 2012 CDC Childhood Immunization Champion."
