The rates would be used by the Cherokee County government to establish its fiscal year 2014 budget.

The Cherokee County Commission will vote today on whether it should rollback its three millage rates during its meeting tonight.

The meeting will start at 6 p.m. at the Cherokee County Administrative Building in Canton. The meeting will be preceded by its 3 p.m. work session.

If approved, the millage rates would be:

  • 5.793 for the general fund (currently at 5.825)
  • 3.370 for the fire district (currently at 3.394)
  • .776 mills for the parks bond (currently at .780)
The total rate would go from 9.999 to 9.947 mills. The rate, along with the rate established by the Cherokee County School District, will be formally adopted during a July 25 called meeting.
