City, County Offices Closed on New Year's Day

City, county and federal employees are off on Jan. 1.

The cities of Woodstock, Canton, Holly Springs, Waleska, Ball Ground and Cherokee County administrative offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, for the New Year's holiday.

Additionally, the city of Waleska's offices will be closed on Monday. 

All operations required for the comfort and safety of citizens will remain open.

The Cherokee County Tax Commissioners' offices will also be closed on Tuesday for the holiday. The Cherokee Area Transportation System buses will also not run on New Year's Day.

Sequoyah Regional Library System branches will close at 5 p.m. Monday and will remain closed on Tuesday.

Local residents who utilize Waste Management for residential waste disposal services should know the company will not pick up trash on Tuesday.

Scheduled stops will resume on Wednesday and will run one day behind through Saturday.

United States Post Offices will also be closed on Tuesday. Express Mail only will be delivered on New Year’s Day.

Cherokee County's two recycling centers will also be closed on Monday, but will be open from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday. 

The city and county offices will resume regular operating hours on Wednesday, Jan. 2 and all post offices will be open and regular mail delivery will resume on that day.
