City Demolishes Waldan Chase Apartments

The City purchased the property for $451,596.70 after it was destroyed in the September 2009 flood.

The plans for a proposed dog park on Dupree Road are moving forward.

The demolished the Waldan Chase Apartments Tuesday after a purchase agreement with the city. The apartments were damaged and condemned during the September 2009 flood, said Environmental Manager Kelen Kimmey Shostak.

The purchased the Waldan Chase Property for $451,596.70 from RDZ Waldan Chase Partners, LLC March 14.

The City purchased this property in part with grants received by GEMA and FEMA, Shostak said.

At the Oct. 10 City Council meeting, City Manager Jeff Moon said the City has received $383,605 of this purchase price back from the State, leaving a remaining balance of $67,991.70 to be reimbursed to the General Fund from the Impact Fee Fund.
