City Welcomes Rope Mill Bridge

City officials, Greenprints Alliance volunteers and avid nature lovers were all on hand on Friday morning to cut the green ribbon for the newly constructed Olde Rope Mill Park pedestrian bridge.

The was welcomed today as the newest addition in the ongoing community effort to connect 40 miles of hiking and biking trails throughout Cherokee County and beyond.

A green ribbon cutting was held for the structure, which spans the Little River and helps outdoor enthusiasts gain easy access to trails that will eventually link to Blankett's Creek bike trails in Canton.

"The word is getting out that we're an outdoor friendly city," said David Potts, who is the chairman of the board for the Greenprints Alliance.Β "It will become a destination for the southeast, and people are going to start traveling here."

Mayor Donnie Henriques was also present to dedicate the bridge and said he hopes the citizens of Woodstock will enjoy all of the outdoor improvements the Department of Parks and Recreation and Greenprints have accomplished thus far.

"The key point," Henriques said of the trail system, "is the quality of life for our local residents."
