Council Discusses 'Pill Mills'

Staff is requesting an extension to the City Council to further investigate the 'pill mill' situation in Woodstock.

The will hear the first reading of a recommendation to extend the city's moratorium on pain clinics tonight.

The staff is requesting a three-month extension that would expire Oct. 26 to further review the "pill mill" situation. The issuance of licenses to area clinics was approved on July 26, 2010, and was set to expire July 26.

The council will also hear the second reading of the 2011-12 budget which starts July 1 after the staff made several changes including a moratorium being placed on all out-of-state travel and a moratorium being placed on the cashing-in leave time by city employees during the fiscal year, except for medical related requests or other severe emergencies. The proposed budget is $28.3 million.
