Developer Wants to Build 217 Homes in Woodstock

The case will be considered by the Woodstock Planning Commission in September.

An Atlanta-based company has applied to build over 200 homes along Barnes Road near its intersection with Trickum Road.

According to an application submitted by Oak Hall Companies LLC, the company has petitioned for the city of Woodstock to annex and rezone 74.32 acres to allow for them to build 217 single-family detached homes in a planned subdivision.

The proposed subdivision would include an amenity package and a trail network.
The properties the developers are seeking to annex and rezone are 3155 Trickum Road, 3175 Trickum Road, 1505 Barnes Road, 1520 Barnes Road and 225 River Run.

The subdivision would sit directly across the street from Little River Elementary School, and just down the road from the Cherokee County's Fire Station No. 7.

The case is slated to be heard by the Woodstock Planning Commission at 7 p.m. Sept. 5. It will come before the Woodstock City Council at 7 p.m. Monday Sept. 23.

The request is being watched by the Cherokee County Commission, and will be discussed during its meeting on Tuesday.

County Attorney Angela Davis said the county is working with the city on whether one of the parcels, if annexed, would be contiguous with the city's boundary.

"We continue to have concerns about the legality of the annexation due to that, but the county and city staffs are working together on the issue," she said.
