DOT Names Top Northwest Corridor Bidder

The Northwest Corridor project is expected to relieve congestion in Cobb and Cherokee counties.

Northwest Express Roadbuilders is the top bidder to design and construct optional toll lanes along Interstates 75 and 575 counties, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The more than $1-billion Northwest Corridor project, the largest transportation project in the state's history, is expected to relieve congestion in Cobb and Cherokee counties.

Northwest Express Roadbuilders, a coalition of companies in California, Florida and Georgia, bid $599 million for their portion of the work, according to the AJC, which said the total cost of the remaining work on the project is now estimated at $840 million.
