GA License Plate Voting Reopens Today

After a misunderstanding with the "In God We Trust" sticker, officials announced the voting will reopen for three weeks.

The vote for the new Georgia license plate will reopen today at 3 p.m. on the Department of Revenue's website.

All eight plate designs from the Georgia License Plate Design Contest that made it to the semifinal round will be up for a revote.

Gov. Nathan Deal will choose the winning design from the top three license plates the public selects.

The vote is being reopened because there was a public outcry with the "In God We Trust" sticker that was supposed to be optional on the plates. Officials announced Friday before what was supposed to be the unvieling of the winning plate they wanted voters to understand this was optional.

The eight individual images (artwork) will contain a blank “placeholder” at the bottom of the plate which represents the location where the applicable label will be attached, according to a press release from the Department of Revenue.
