Last Day To Register To Vote Is Oct. 9

The Nov. 6 general election could see a larger turnout.

The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 6 general election is drawing closer.

Residents have until Tuesday Oct. 9 to register to vote in the election. Voters can register online or in person at the Cherokee County Elections and Voter Registration at 400 East Main Street in downtown Canton.

Cherokee County Elections Supervisor Janet Munda said the office has been "very, very busy" with people registering and making sure everything is in line for them to vote.

"Everyone wants to make sure they are registered," she said, adding she is "happy" to see residents checking their status.

Early and advance voting is also right around the corner for those wishing to avoid possible long lines at the polls on Nov. 6. Munda added the office and its poll workers believe early and advanced voting will be "extremely busy."
