Live from the City Council Meeting

We are bringing you updates live from the Woodstock City Council meeting.

The  is holding its regular meeting tonight, and Woodstock-Towne Lake Patch editor Lindsey Davidson is there to cover all the action live. Feel free to add comments and questions here. The big news tonight is the dedication of “The Chambers at City Center” in honor of the late Evelyn Whitmire Chambers. The meetings will now be held at 8534 Main St. A video will of the ceremony will be available Tuesday.

7:55 p.m. Twenty minutes into the meeting, the council goes into executive session, and the meeting is adjourned.

7:53 p.m. "What we want to talk to you about as part of Task Two is relocating the DDA and the Welcome Center to the Building B," Moon said. "It would put a city representative on site at all times. This is all a preview; we are not there yet."

7:49 p.m. City Manager Jeff Moon is discussing the next phase of the complex. "The next phase is two-fold. We have to modify Building B. The good news is we are going to get to save more of it than we thought." There will be a design for Clark Patterson & Lee will be available at next week's meeting.

7:45 p.m. The third reading of the ATV ordinance was also approved in the consent agenda.

7:44 p.m. representative spoke saying they are looking to be opened the first week in August. It will be open for lunch and dinner and Sunday 10 a.m. till 3 p.m.

7:41 p.m. The consent agenda is approved. This includes Miyabi Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi's application for its beer and wine pouring license. 

7:40 p.m. No one signed up for public comment.

7:38 p.m. The prayer and pledge is skipped because they both were said during the dedication ceremony. And the resolution of the dedication of "The Chambers of the City Center" is approved. Reminder, the meetings will now be held at 8534 Main St.

7:35 p.m. The dedication ceremony for the new location ended about 10 minutes ago. We are still in a recess before the city council meeting starts.
